Dr. Steven J. Daniels Sr. is the esteemed Lead Pastor of The Second Baptist Church of Ann Arbor, Michigan. A gifted and passionate preacher, teacher, and visionary, Dr. Daniels is devoted to spreading the transformative message of Jesus. Christ to all. Since assuming his role in April 2015, he has been instrumental in leading the church to thrive spiritually, financially, and numerically, while advancing the Kingdom of God and profoundly impacting the community.
Dr. Daniels’s academic journey reflects his commitment to excellence and service. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications from Norfolk State University, a Master of Divinity degree from The Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from United Theological Seminary. He received extensive Clinical Pastoral Education training in the Riverside Health System in Newport News, VA.
There he provided pastoral care and counseling as a staff chaplain. These achievements underscore his dedication to both intellectual and spiritual growth.
In 2018, Dr. Daniels expanded his community leadership by joining the board of the Ann Arbor Housing Commission, where he continues to advocate for housing equity and community development. His exemplary leadership extends into his personal life as well, where he shares a loving partnership with Elder Dr. Trina L. Daniels. Together, they are proud parents of three children:
Davion, Yhasman, and Steven II.
Dr. Daniels is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., further illustrating his commitment to brotherhood and service.
